I can't get a decent signal from my aerial.
I have fitted a new wide band hi gain digital aerial and still can't get a decent signal. I have checked the post code on the freeview site and we are ok. I have bought a signal tester and am getting an average signal but still no picture. I have tried everything, new cables, new set top box. My analogue signal is crap. My cables must be ok because if I connect to the back of sky box then the sky channel is ok. Should I be looking for a full strenght input from my aerial and no less. Any ideas please. many thanks |

Not all areas will receive a good signal with a wideband aerial. Also if the signal is too strong it can also cause loss of reception. You need to find the correct type of aerial for your location - put you postcode into Wolfbane Reception Predictor and it should tell you what aerial is best for you.
You state that you have 'a new wide band hi gain digital aerial', but be aware that there is no such thing as a 'digital aerial'. TV signals are picked up by all TV aerials regardless of them being digital or analogue. The term is just marketing hype to try to get more people to buy a new aerial that perhaps they don't need. Check your neighbours roof aerials to see if they are pointing in the same direction as yours, and also check if the orientation of the aerial is the same. Main transmitters require the aerial to be in a horazontal orientation, but relay transmitters require it to be vertical. Now I am a little confused by Quote:
