The Denon AVR2802 is a fantasic receiver for that kind of money and would make a great first time buy. Try here for a better price:

It may even be cheaper elsewhere as the 2802 has been superceded by the 2803 now. Is there anything else better for the money? I wouldn't think so.

Juboy used to have one of these so might be able to offer further comments :)~:-)~.

I've been looking around for a amp for some time now, and nearly everyone has said the denon 2802 is a cracker for the money.

This denon amp is for sale at lintone audio for £300 brand new and boxed.

TEL: 0191 4600999 OR WWW.LINTONE.CO.UK.

Hope this helps you youngy.

PS Dont buy the last one, i have'nt saved enough cash yet to buy it.

Yes, it gets a big  from me. The 2802 really is a brilliant amp. At the prices they can be had for now, it really makes sense to go for one of these rather than the usual c.£300£400 amps - it will make a mockery out of them sound wise and features wise.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say the only, single average thing about the 2802 is it's remote control (which isn't that bad, but it's no looker). Everything else about it is top of the class.

As Groundy said, for the money I can't imagine you'd do better.

Many thanks gentlemen, it looks like I will be the owner of one of these real soon

Now for a set of speakers to compliment it

Now heres a problem, my darling  understanding :?~:-?~:???: loving :o~:-o~ beautiful :o~:-o~ wife wants me to get small speakers :x~:-x~ and my understanding is that sound quality from small sat style cubes can never be as good has larger speakers, am I correct?? or is it a case of you get what you pay for.

All suggestions will be thoroughly looked into

It's a question of budget really, decent small speakers can definitely outperform average large speakers if you buy wisely. Although at the very low budget end, bookshelf speakers would probably give you the best overall sound quality. What sort of money are you willing to spend?

Now that this is about speakers lets go over to the speakers and subs topics

see you over there
