X-Box Component Cable / Digital out?

Hi all,



I'll most likely pick up an X-Box (not 360) after Christmas or whenever the price crashes completely. (I'm interested if you want rid of yours before the 360 arrives BTW)



Only thing I need to know is can it output component video and digital audio. I've seen the cables but didn't know if it was only for US machines or not.



I used to have one a long time ago and fancy playing Splinter Cell through again.

The component cables will have a little box on the console end that has an optical output. Some versions of the component cable don't have this though :roll:



By default the PAL Xbox doesn't do prog. scan but it's easy to 'soft mod' it to enable this. If you do this it won't affect the console in any way, and can still be played online. I know a few people who have done this without a problem. Do a Google search on the "Splinter Cell hack" and you'll find what you need





I'm thinking of selling my Xbox but I haven't decided yet. Good condition etc and it's not been chipped or modified in any way

Cool. Had no idea it could do prog scan either. That would be very nice to have.

Prog. scan depends on the game - some support it and some don't. There's also a few games that do 720p



European games don't 'officially' have progressive scan but the US games did, and they were just left in when converted to PAL
