Just some pictures, no specs, some are just prototypes. One if not two on there look on the large side, reminded me of the old top loading vhs players. :o~:-o~

Everything always starts off big mate. I remember buying a Pioneer Elite player at £2k in the late ninties and it was huge.

The Sony looks lovely images/smiley_icons/wub.gif

A couple of them look nice, even though they're pretty big. The Samsung one looks horrible though :thumbdown1:

If I had a display capable of using Blu-ray I'd still wait before buying one though. Apparently the early players won't have full BRD capabilities :?~:-?~:???: The first batch of players haven't got Java-support, which is part of the Blu-ray specification. I don't know much about this problem though, it could be something that is added later on in a firmware update

The Sony does look nice, quite like the look of the Philips player as well.

Blu-ray is out for me until the prices drop. :(

Come on PS3 where are you.

The Sony does look nice indeed.

I think Blu-ray will be out for me aswell after seeing the rrp's on the other thread. Even with the planned powerbuy to get them from the U.S the Thosiba HD-DVD is $499 so thats ~£290 and the Pioneer is $1800 is £1000. We are likely to end up having a 1:1 conversion from $ to £. That would make the Pioneer £1800 for a new player. That puts it way out of reach for me :(.

I used xe for my figures in my ubove post, which is currently 1 GBP = 1.76335 USD. Most products we import into this country from the U.S though gets a £1:$1 conversion rate :(.

That 1:1 conversion rate is correct....but that's only because on top of the initial purchase, you also have to pay VAT, import duty, Carriage, insurance etc :o~:-o~

in fact, many American companies wont export a TV or electronics to you, yesterday i rang up UPS and FEDERAL EXPRESS they said no...because for one off items... electronic goods are far too delicate... they'll only export wholesale...because a large batch is far safer all bundled together securely than a one off item.

i was going to import that JVC LCOS 1080P 56'' dlp....but it ain't worth it.

the best way to import is through the Common Market, but from America it's tough...but with a DVD player...that can go by ``hand luggage`` via B.A...I THINK..or it can go in the cargo hold.... but not a 100 pound 56'' DLP

Chaps the powerbuy price, (if we can agree on one or two models) will most certainly not be a pound to dollar conversion as i have a stateside contact for the machines
