Having been stuck with 2 channel for an age, i'd forgotten just how great Meridians Trifield DSP is.
It is a revelation with your CD's. The soundfield is huge & solid, with the centre channel really coming to the party.
It makes 'Direct' mode sound totally uninspiring :o~:-o~
Which sounds daft, coz it isn't :?~:-?~:???:
I just had to set Trifield as the PCM default on my 568.2

I've not heard this before, but by all accounts it is pretty good. The Tag DSP (TMS 5 i use) is good if you really want to stick to that stereo sound - but i would love to hear a DSP that made use of my other speakers, and used them well.
Surprised you havent commented on the G series thread yet Adz :)~:-)~

Indeed, Trifield makes full use of your speakers.
The front soundstage is immense, dynamic & has created a 'wall of sound' in my room.
Trifield is proof that DSP's can work for 2 channel sources
It certainly makes the Meridian processors killer dual 2/Multichannel machines.
With regards to the G series, i havent really read enough about it in detail :?~:-?~:???:
Too busy getting all my system setup
I'll have to have a read @ some point

I often prefer trifield to stereo and that is from a stereo fanatic point of view. What I find really sad is Trifield isn't owed by Meridian but licenceed by them, so in therory anyone could put it on their processors. TMS and Logic 7 are good, very good but they are not trifield.

Not a fan of Ambisonics' SuperStereo then? I was always under the impression that Trifield worked best with stereo miked live performances, such as chamber, choiral, orchestral or acoustic jazz.
SuperStereo is supposed to be better with studio mixed multi-mike recordings, where little or no phase information is present.
Nice to have the choice anyway

I think trifield does a great job of two channel. Better than my MC12B's logic 7 IMO.
However, L7 adds a wonderful flavour to discrete multi channel formats such as DD and DTS. (Whilst using seven speakers of course....Hi Fi News  )
