Can anyone recommend a good Blackout blind (preferbly brown) for a Home Cinema room.

If they're not too exspensive I would even consider electric ones but they really need to be black out.

I think my main issue with roller blinds is the gap down the sides so could do with something that has an extra edging??

I took an idea from one of the other forum members. Sticky velcro around the window frame, and stiched velcro on to blackout material from John Lewis.

Seals really well, and no light.

I use foam, dark grey to block light out. Foam just a touch bigger than the window. The quotes for blackout blinds scared me!

Try the Ikea ones - they are cheap and very effective if not too well made.

Been there Richard, I have TOTAL blackout from windows for the sake of a few £ and totally reversible in seconds. The Ikea system didn't fit my situation. :(

Hi All
thought i would update you on my blinds, i brought battery operated black out roller blinds for my cinema room just to add that finishing touch, anyway they arrive from premier blinds 10 days after ordering and i found really easy to fit they made to my size and they fitted the motor all i had to do was fit them on the wall with 4 screws i had 2 done in less than an hour, i had 1 remote for 2 blinds so they work singeley or i can press 1 button and both the blinds go up or down. they work great and look very smart the fabric is blackout but i get a tiny bit a light around the edge but no enough to bother me, comparing what i got offered for over 2 grand with side channels and boxes top and bottom. these 2 blinds cost just under £800 and i think great value compared with some of the stuff i brought. the shop were very helpful and said if i had a problem programming them they would talk me thru it over the phone but it was easy enough. these are great finishing touches to my room and another remote to play with, very highly recommended, see link below for there website and they have a youtube link showing one working very cool

cheers

Hi,

I've done a similar thing with my cinema room, using blackout blinds from The Blind Shop. They do them made to measure with remote controls and they are very easy to install. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was all for a really good price too - I'd highly recommend them if you are after electric blackout blinds.
