Off to USA soon, and thinking of buying a 360 what with the exchange rate being great at the moment, and just wondered if there were any drawbacks to using a US Xbox 360 in the UK, other than power supply and importing games? Would I still be able to play xbox live?

Xbox Live works fine with a US console AFAIK. I know a few people with an import console and they don't have a problem with Xbox Live. They can still play online against anyone else etc
I wouldn't recommend it though. The 360 is still very prone to errors and problems...usually ones that mean you'll need a replacement console. Microsoft UK will honour a guarantee for a US machine but be careful. I know someone who sent in his Japanese machine for repair and received a UK machine in its place  :o~:-o~ All of his JPN games were therefore useless.

Thanks for the info r-lench.
If it came with an xbox live subscription, could I also use that here in the UK?

Xbox Live subscriptions can be used on any region of machine and can be used anywhere. It's tied into your Hotmail/MSN email address. So if you set that to a European address, you'll get European-specific XBox Live Marketplace content. If you choose an American email address, it'll change your XBL Marketplace content to American-specific content. (Marketplace is just a term for downloadable demos, Live Arcade, videos etc)
