Qoute:
"Jeffrey L. Bewkes, the president of Time Warner, said the Total HD disc has a better chance of catching on than dual players. Research commissioned by Warner indicates that consumers are willing to pay several dollars more than current high-definition DVDs for a disc that works on both players. At the Web site for Best Buy, Warner's “Superman Returns” DVD was selling yesterday for $19.99 in its standard format, $29.99 for Blu-ray and $34.99 for HD-DVD"
What he fails to say is that the Superman movie is double sided (standard def DVD on one side and HD-DVD on the other) which is why it's so much more expensive. Most HD-DVD's in Best Buy are around $24.95, I was there last week :)~:-)~
Call me cynical but if the greedy studio's go ahead with this I don't think it will help the consumer. If dual HD format disks start being produced, expect to see a big hike over standard HD-DVD's. EQ if Superman is selling for :edit: $10 USD more than normal HD-DVD's I'm pretty sure we can expect an increase of at least $15-20 USD for HD-DVD/Blu-ray disk!
I for one don't fancy playing that game.
The price difference for the combos is $5, these will be the same. Actually scratch that, Warner won't offer a choice so there won't be a price difference as such. I bet they will still be cheaper than what Fox charges for Blu-Ray titles.

Superman was $10 USD more than most other HD-DVD's I saw at Best Buy (my mistake, not $15 USD). However, I reckon it will be $15+ USD if you get Blu-ray on the other side rather than SD DVD.
