View Full Version : System Maintenance.
Just wondering if others actually maintain their systems or do nothing?
I tend to clean the DVD & CD players lenses once a week as well as using a demagnetiser CD and every couple of months or so I clean the banana plugs at the amp and speaker ends with alcohol.
Keeps it all in tip top shape. :D~:-D~

I dust the TV screen once every 3-4 days and run the duster over the amp, player, speakers, and sub but that's about it.
I've never ever used a lens cleaner in my life :o~:-o~

Cant imagine you in rollers & apron Jase :D~:-D~
I regularly check all connections, and reset the timing device i have hidden in the rack, which is designed to spray out red smoke when Adzman Jnr & his band of merry fingers, come waddling round the corner
I actually dust the kit everyday

Never been entirely convinced as to the effectiveness of cleaning discs. I do pop the top off my amp and make sure the heatsinks are nice and clean though. ;)~;-)~

Kit wise, he's already caused the pulse to quicken a few times.

Usually give mine a cleandown once a week, and then straight after another cleandown but with antistatic spray which is good for the equipment and TV Screens.

Doesn't that invalidate the guarantee though :o~:-o~
I keep meaning to get hold of a can of that compressed air stuff in order to blast the interior of the amp - but, as above post, never get round to it

Normally get the wife to hoover and dust  . Av gear (amp, dvd, sky) hidden away in cupboard so dusting is not a real issue.
Have used dvd lense cleaner once. Forgot about it until I read this post.
Are you really meant to clean banana plugs and plug prongs?

I just polish the T.V. Dvd player and Amp as and when I do the rest of the room. Didn't know you were supposed to get lense cleaners and all the rest. :(

Supposedly so, it cleans off the oxidised layer (I think) and therefore provides a better contact. Check it out here (http://www.russandrews.com/product.asp?lookup=1&region=UK&currency=GBP&pf_id= 5434&customer_id=PAA1748101303365QFMXLCHGEVPXORZF)

Apart from the dusting, I run the hoover over the back of the telly and speaker grills every once in a while..
Not literally....I use the hose and that soft round brush thingy that never get used for anything else..

Don't do that mate, you'll end up blowing dust into tiny places that you can't get to to clean it out! It would be VERY bad!
