That model is about to be replaced by the s550. The s350 which might meet your needs is already out.



Panasonic are the other main player here, which also have new models about to come out, bd35 and bd55



Not tried them myself yet, i am in the same boat as you, reading up on it all.

Sony seem to have a few models out at the minuete which seem to offer decent playback.



Another machine to consider from Sony is it PS3 console which is probably the most common form of Bluray players in households worldwide.



If you read the thread below 'ps3 vs. The rest there's a discussion on a few other brands such as Panasonic and Pioneer.



Martin Tyler, an AV Talk regular has own previous Sony models and I think is upgrading to another sony shortly so he should be able to give you a little more info on there quality.
