Seem to be able to get both for similar money, has anyone experience of both? I am certain that Denon was always considered more musical that others but does this still stand with the new Pioneer AX series?
In due course (well before xmas) I will be changing my DVD player too so no problem with matching.
Ive also been offered a reasonable price on the Denon A1SR but is it worth the extra money?
I'm using AE Aegis Evo3B speaker package.
Any thoughts would be good!
Thanks

Juboy has the AX5i, and has owned/experienced a lot of Denon amps. IIRC he could hardly find a thing about the Pioneer he didn't like.
He does partner it with the DV757i though, which puts the SQ up a notch.

It comes down to preference I suspect. If you like a clean, analytical sound - giving you exactly what's on the disc - then go for the Pioneer.
If you like a warmer, slightly more restrained and refined sound, go for the Denon.
If you're planning a new DVD player and like the look of the 757Ai or the upcoming 868Ai, then you'd almost certainly be best of with the AX10i.
BTW, the MCACC auto-setup works amazingly well for me in my room (although some people have a problem with how it sets sub distance - which is easily changed manually). The AX10i offers 9 bands of EQ rather than the AXi's 5 bands, so should be even more precise. The AX10i also comes with a pretty darn cool remote controller.

Trouble is the AX10i is too pricey I think, Can get the AX5i for £900, cheapest AX10 so far is still nearly £2000 !
Think I can get a Denon A1SR for about £1250.
Looks like, after auditioning of course, the AX5 gets it!

If you can get an A1SR (and not the A11SR) for 1250 quid then I'd snap it up a.s.a.p.

My thoughts exactly, bargain of the century IMHO.

Yeah, the AX5i gives you 80% of the performance of the AX10i for less than 50% of the price. I just don't need 170wpc in my room :o~:-o~ :)~:-)~
I'm totally happy with the AX5i, the sound is fantastic, the MCACC is brilliant, the remote controller is great and the i-Link is just the icing on an already tasty cake
