It's coming up to my birthday soon and i'm hoping to get a Blu-Ray player, I need one with audio outs on it as my amp doesn't have any HDMI ins or outs on it. My current short list is for Pioneer BDP51FD, Panasonic DMPBD80, or a Denon DVD1800BD. I haven't kept up to date with reviews and developments recently so i'm not sure what difference there is between the different models or if there is anything else i should be considering, my Budget is £300 max, and i don't mind buying 2nd hand if anyone has anything that is massively better and with in my budget. Also are there any others players that i should be considering?

Not sure what the price would be in GBP, but I highly recommend the Oppo BDP-83. World class video performance on HD and SD material, and it plays all formats - blu ray, DVD, SACD, DVD-A, etc.
It's a stunner, and an amazing value here in the US at $499.

I have the Pioneer BDP51FD and it's fantastic. I have no idea how it compares to other machines, but I am very happy with it.

This isn't going to help much (given the replies above) but I just picked up a Region A Panasonic DMP-BD85 and am really impressed with it. I previously had a Panasonic DMP-BD30 and it shows just how quickly the tech has moved on... the new one is far superior, much more flexible and has far more features and yet cost me less than half the price of the original one.
I think you can pick them up for around £250 in the UK.
