Got one of these Blu-ray players just a couple of weeks ago and so far I've only watched one film (Gladiator) on it. I gather this is an entry level player and therefore that is why it doesn't perform as well as some of the more expensive players, but have to say I was disappointed with the jerkiness when the picture was panning across, or indeed forwards and backwards.

Anyway that isn't what I'm posting about. Over the last few days I've had some problems with the player actually booting up properly. I get "PHILIPS" in the readout, but then nothing and I'm not able to switch it to standby using the remote or open the disc door, I've had to unplug it.

Then suddenly today it begins to work again.

Mindful of this problem though, I'm of the mind to take this back, get my money refunded and then go and get another manufacturers Blu-ray player.

What does everyone think.

Take it back.

If it was jerky and poor with panning, you either have it set up wrong or it's broken. Even cheap player shouldn't do this.

I did read some reviews which mentioned some jerkiness with the image on panning shots.

Anyway that isn't really the problem I have with it, it's the fact that it didn't want to start up properly until I'd plugged it in at least three times.

Strange as well that it should suddenly be okay today.

Take it back.

If they test it in the shop and it doesn't play up, just insist that you are returning it. As long as it's in mint condition still, they have no reason not to accept a return as far as I know.
