Guys
help!!!! Im at the end of my tether I tried everything I can think of. But I can not get my picture from my DVD player to my denon 1604 to my TV, Im using a SCART-SVid to the Reciever then a SVID-SVID to the TV and can't get a picture (If a sony triniton TV). The sound isn't working either, ive a Qunex1 from the DVD to the reciever. All components are working fine and ive tried all RECIEVER and telly options. The reciever is set to recieve digital signal through coxial but nothing works. Sorry for going on. It's been doing my head in for a week!!!!!!!!!!

-Make shure that the scart out on the DVD player is set th s-video and not RGB in the DVD-players setup.
-Also in the DVD-player setup, set the digital audio out to "Normal" if it's a Denon player. I'm not shure what all the other brands call it, but this should be mentioned in the manual.
-Then make shure the digital inn assigment on the amplifiersetup is set to DVD on the coax input.
You are absolutely certain that the scart to s-video cable is working. Have you tried to connect it directly to the TV?
Thats all I can think of for now so I hope this solves it

Thanks magking, couple of things i've not tried, which i'll do now. Havn't tried the svideo -svid to the tv directly yet. I'm wondering, whether the Svideo connection on the DVD player isn't working , as my optical isn't working on it at present.
Will get back shortly

Right them, Sound is sorted, I've now got amazing DD EX. sound.
The options my DVD player gives in regards to VIDEO selection is RGB; YCRCB (no idea what that is) and Comp Video.
When I try the different options (with the scart in to begin with (to see the options) take it out and replace it with the svideo cable) I just get a blank screen.
The svideo is facing the right direction. So im guessing i've a buggered svideo connection on the DVD player. Comments please guys!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can't choose s-video out on scart your player probably doesn't support it, which sounds strange to me.
What player do you have? Does it have a separate s-video out?
Why don't you use a scart with RGB directly to the TV instead?
YCRCB is component video and you can't get that through the scart, you wil have three RCA connections on the back which is red, green and blue. Your TV most likely does not support component video anyway.

I have a Kiiro X5 (as seen on amazon.co.uk) its a bit of an unkown player. Seemed good at the time when I had very little spare cash (2yrs ago) It has only a SCART and Svideos out connections. Im thinking I might just put it through direct to the telly. It just a pain because i've spent £60 on Svideo cables!!!!!!!!!

Is the monitor out on the Denon set to output S-Video in the menus?
I presume you've also enabled S-Video on your TV?
Why not just connect directly to the TV?
Just one thing. I've seen S-Video to Scart cables but these haven't worked when turned around the other way like you are trying e.g Scart to an S-Video input. Certainly not the one I have anyway.

I will check my menus on the TV. The SCART- Svids and S-vid to SCART are directional but I HAVE bought the correct lead for the correct job!!! Wanted to do it via the recviever so won't have to choose sound for a unit and then the video, want them both to change at the same time!! Any other ideas guys??

anyone got any other ideas please im destperate????????????
Have you tried connecting directly to the TV just to check that the cables etc are working? I assume your TV has a direct S-Video socket so connect your DVD directly to it and see if you get a picture. Also check that your VCR can output an S-Video signal via it's scart output. I'm assuming it's an SVHS player otherwise you'll get nothing if it's a normal VHS player as they don't output S-Video.
Check all connections & cables directly, if it all works then reconnect to the Denon and check that you are selecting the correct Video Source for the relevant input.

Well both the video and the dvd player work when plugged directly into my svideo input on my sony telly. I cant find anything that tells me how to set inputs to svideo on the denon 1604 receiver
Ok. Reconnect back to the Denon. DVD to it's S-Video Input, VCR to it's S-Video Input and then connect to your TV via the S-Video Monitor Output. Doublecheck your TV menus to make sure the Scart input you are connected to is set to accept an S-Video Signal.
Put a DVD in your player and get that started. Make sure the amp is set to the DVD input and then press the Video Select button on the front panel to check it's set to SOURCE. You should then have the image playing on your TV. Do the same for the Video and the VCR input, always make sure the Video Select is set to SOURCE.
Hopefully this should do the trick.
