Could someone tell me if I was wasting my money on buying the Denon 2803 over the Denon 1804 when I do not intend to ever goto 7.1 surround?
P.S. I am not decided on denon yet but it's the best comparison to ask the question as i don't know what im talkin about.
The eventual model I will decide on will be in the price range of these two amps.
They will have to complement the velodyne spl-1000 sub I have recently purchased.
Still not decided on 5/6 speaker package yet either, but thats for later on.
Cheers Jonny

What, never ever? If there's even a glimmer of a doubt get the 2803. There's nothing worse than wishing later you had a feature you could have had at the outset. Buy cheap, pay twice as they say...

Agree with Deckard. And it's not just features either Snowman. Going up in the range means you get better quality internals too, which means better sound at the end of the day.
Or wait a little while until the 3805 is released which will then knock down the prices of the 3803 model.

Thanks for the replys guys
As my original budget £1000 has now went to £2000 I am going to have to wait untill I have the money, at least I have the sub purchased thats done and dusted. I don't like buyin twice that's why I posted the question.
On the 7.1 side I havn't even had 5.1 so if the option is there its better lookin at it than for it i suppose.
Denon gets a good review on this forum at the price range im lookin thats why I used it for an e.g.
Sub £500
AV Amp £400-£450
Leaves approx £1000 for speakers and cables.
Any more advice is always appreciated
Cheers Snowman

I agree with the suggestion of waiting for the prices of the AVR3803 to drop.
When the 3805 arrives, prices of the 3803 will drop to under £500, at which price it's a bargain.
It's a travesty to have a sub as competent as the SPL1000 and use it with an amp worth a third as much.

Im definately going to wait for the AVR3803 to come down in price as its just too much money at the moment plus im still saving for the speakers/cables anyway.
