When the man from Sky drilled a hole in my wall he put a small plastic sleeve in to tidy it up. Anyone know where I can get these as I want to run my speaker cables through the wall.

Also on that subject, is that a good idea or not? I want to run the cable for the rears along the outside wall and back in again where the speakers are. Good or bad move? I'd apreciate any comments on this and what ducting to use to protect it.

TIA

I suppose if you used plastic ducting on the outside and made sure it was properly sealed so no water could get in I don't see a problem. Depending on the thickness of the speaker cable you could always run that through something like earth wire sheathing for extra protection. :)~:-)~

I should have said really. The cable is 4mm. So its good quality stuff. I'm just not sure if I need to protect it or not. Also as I'm very new to this I just dont know if running it outside is a good or bad idea. happy to hear from anyone with any useful comments.

I would guess it's not a good idea, unless you cover the cable.

I suspect the insulation could denature if left exposed to direct sunlight and the elements all the time. If you run it through some trunking outside I couldn't see a problem though.

Wow. I had to look up the word Denature and this is what I found on hyperdictionary.com:

[v] make (alcohol) unfit for drinking without impairing usefulness for other purposes

So lets apply that to your sentence.

I suspect the insulation could make (alcohol) unfit for drinking without impairing usefulness for other purposes if left exposed to direct sunlight and the elements all the time.

Fantastic. I'll not bother with the trunking then!

Hmm, hyperdictionary is not all it seems then.

My understanding of denaturing is that it is the process of breaking down complex hyrdrocarbons into smaller molecules - how you get rid of virii, because they are not truly alive and thus cannot be killed.

Only direct sunlight, decapitation or a stake through the ... err ... RNA, will work ;)~;-)~

Er, well it does say something like that too but its not half as funny. ;)~;-)~

Seriously though, thanks for the tip Deckard. I guess a visit to B&Q is in order. Does anyone know where I can get those plastic sleeves for the holes please?
