It seems to me that there are fewer and fewer noteworthy TV programmes of late. I recall a time when I used to watch lots of TV religiously, but now I can't be bothered. Maybe that's just because I'd rather be watching a DVD, or maybe it's because of the quality of modern TV programmes.

So I thought it would be fun if we shared our favourite TV programmes from days gone by :D~:-D~

Apart from Twin Peaks, American Gothic and Holding On, I recall regularly loving classic sitcoms all those years ago like My Two Dads, Boys Meets World, Perfect Strangers, Step By Step, Joking Apart and Married With Children. Anyone remember these? More recently, I came to love Dawson's Creek. Those are all that come to mind so far, but I'm sure lots more will come to me later.

In the meantime, what do you remember? 8)~8-)~

2 Guys and a Girl, the best series ever, ever.

Thundercats was also kick ass. The Wonder Years was quite good, but I was also quite young so it may have sucked.

Don't remember 2 Guys and a Girl, Gambit. Who was in that? Always found the Wonder Years a bit hit and miss.

Forgot about Dark Skies, Sarge. That was awesome. Late night Ch4 images/smiley_icons/icon_thumbsup.gif

I've only ever seen it on Trouble on sky, but it totally rocked. You like Van Wilder, well Van Wilder is just a toned down version of Berg form 2 guys.

I'll second Millenium, so much better than X-Files could ever have dreamt of being.

I used to like G-Force when I was a kid. The G-Force was charged with protecting and defending the planet Earth from the rules of the dying planet Spectra.

I also used to like that version of Huckleberry Finn that used to be on during school holiday morning TV.

I'm starting a support group. :D~:-D~

Always loved the Mary Whitehouse Experience, both on Radio and BBC2. Later projects involving any of the original four just weren't up to much. And David Badiel as a comedian, he was just about okay as the butt of ALL Robert Newman's jokes.

Appalling BBC Sci Fi will always be my first love - it's amazing what you can do with good actors and a good script, even if the production values are lower than a student film.

There was one series of that, yeah Geezer, same cast etc, think it was the first one then it was just 2 guys and a girl.

Loved it too. Never heard the radio show but the entire TV series was genius. I still like David Baddiel and he's a great author to boot. Shame Rob Newman disappeared into nothingness, he was a great talent :(

Well for me it was the preponderance of Geordies with speech impediments (yes, I do know the difference) that really put me off WDY, still forced to watch it by TV schedulers though  .

SG,

Robert Newman did a video called Resistance is Fertile in 2000, that's his most recent work I'm aware of. I've also got a couple of low bitrate MP3s of some of the radio show if you want a listen - some good stuff with Mark Thomas (of Comedy product fame) of all people.

G-Force was Battle of the Planets wasn't it Ju-boy?

I used to worship this show. Still shows on one or two Sky channels.

Why Don't You is still being made AFAIK.

Can't remember if it was the Black Hand Gang or the Red Hand Gang but I loved it and it's one of only 2 TV shows ever to have a better theme tune than Grange Hill. The other being Jamie and the Magic Torch.

And, of course, I dearly miss Baywatch, may it rest in piece (or a skimpy two-piece).

I'd love to see big Dave Hasslehoff in something new.

Genius programme! I loved the theme tune. The Banana Splits were the coolest thing ever. I'm not sure if it did me any good wanting to grow up to be an oversized, fireman's hat wearing dog with a permanently lolling tongue though...

I also loved a cartoon (manga) called Centurians (I think)

It had three heros in it and they zoomed off into space via tubes in the cockpit of their craft. They were wicked.

Also loved the Ullysees cartoon. Great theme tune.

Shouldn't the Eric Estrada poster read, 'I'm a porn star now'?? :D~:-D~

There's nothing worse than him or David Carrodine or even Jan Michael Vincent cropping up in a late night Channel 5 soft core. It really puts me off!

P.S. 'Attention all units, CHiPs will return in a moment' - cool line or what?

The Baron

Pre-Crossroads Sue Lloyd, Dana Andrews' younger brother Steve Forrest and a cool Jensen CV8.

Long time ago I had a really difficult time convincing a pub quiz chairman that it was Steve Forrest in The Baron not his brother.

Another series I liked a lot and bought the Dinky toy car, The Green Hornet, featuring Bruce Lee.

Excellent !

Much as I like David Dickinson with his Bargain Hunt, it pretty much sums up prime time telly these days that they get away with shows from village halls with elderly ladies.

Back then The Baron not only dealt with antiques, he solved international crimes at the same time to justify his tea-time slot.

Way too much " lifestyle " programming, make-overs for people, houses, gardens, cars ( though I do like C5 Dream Machine )and I'm A Celebrity Big Brother reality TV these days. Greg Dyke says he's going to throttle back on this genre, I hope so :)~:-)~

It was in a time when they were using some American actors to crack the US market.

The Barons boss Templeton-Green (Colin Cordin was No2 twice in the Prisoner)

The Baron was wrote by John Creasy, who I managed to read some of his books, The Baron name came from the ranch John Mannering had back in the states. Creasy also wrote a number of other series of books one called The Toff and I think one called Department Z.

Anybody remember Steve Forest other series S.W.A.T. and both the theme tune for this and the above series?

One of the StreetHawk bikes was for sale recently. I think they wanted 5K for it though and it looked in dog rough condition!
