View Full Version : Optical cable to connect Sky+ to amp

Can any one recommend an optical cable to use to connect my Sky+ and Pioneer AX5 amp?
Also i think the connections i need are called TosLink connectors, if anyone can very verify this for me that would be good.
I only ask because i have seen prices for optical cable from £14.99 per metre upto £40 per metre. Is there a difference?
Thanks for any advice

Yeah, it's Toslink, and it's either the best interconnect or the worst interconnect, often depending on who manufactured the kit.
Toslink comes in two varieties, plastic or glass. I can't really tell the difference between the various grades of plastic, but during a demo at a dealer there was quite a difference when switching to >£100/m glass. So I would go with plastic that you're happy to pay the money for, if the only use is with a Sky+ box

Thnx for the advice Madge. I think i will go for a cable that is about £25.
Can't justify to myself that £100 is a good idea for 1m of optical cable, nevermind the other half.
