Rotel RSP-1098 is out soon, looks quite interesting, the screen on front panel may be handy for using DVD-A without powering up projector ?

Is it going to be the new front-runner, at that price point , on paper it looks very capable ?

Seems Rotel processors are not held in quite as high regard as their power amplifiers, Tag McLaren other way around maybe ?

Rotel RMB-1048 eight channel amplifier is fairly low power output, have Rotel a six /seven / eight channel RMB-1095 level amplifier on the way ?

I have tried a 1066 / 1095 combo and thought it good value, any comments ? :)~:-)~

No idea re the new kit but I tried a Rotel 1066 before I bought my tag. I though it was very poor. It had all the right features and looked great, It even did component switching which would be just lovely for me but it didn't sound as good with movies as the Marrantz SR5200 I was using at the time and it was quite poor with CD audio.

We tried it every way imaginable; CD analogue in, CD digital in etc etc. Tried a £200 stereo Rotel Preamp at the same time and this blew it out of the water completely. In my mind the 1066 should have been better with audio than a £200 preamp from the same company.

Then i tried the AV32R and it was just awesome, so I bought one!

I realise the price difference is huge, my poijt is really that the 1066 was very underwhelming IMHO.

I did buy a 1075 Power amp to go with the Tag though, frankly, it's just fantastic value and sounds very good for less than £900.

Im afraid i cannot comment on the processor but i did own the RMB-1095 and it was pure class (for the money) i paid £1200.00 and ran it with a Lexicon dc1, unfortunatly i sold them both and went for a one box solution but if i were to go 2 box again i would definitly get another 1095 and run it with the Tag (same as rich), or if i had a pot of cash it would be the new Arcam combo.
