I need some advice to get some cables to connect Panasonic TX28PS1 & Pioneer DCS303. Can someone please advice as this is the first system i have brought & have no damn idea about the cables.
Also shall i use the default cables that came with the Cinema system or shall i get some new ones for the speaker connections?

Hi there. Generally speaking, all 'freebie' cables can be significantly improved upon by purchasing purpose made cable... and it doesn't have to be expensive.
The likes of QED, Ixos, Ecosse and Cable Talk all do some great cable at around the £2/£2.50 mark which will help get the true potential from your system.
In this case it's probably not worth spending too much more than that though.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking of buying the monster cable set from comet but its bloody expensive. I think i will look for some cheaper ones around £10 - £20. Any ideas where can i get some ?

http://www.hificables.co.uk/ are reliable at good prices.
If you'd rather buy on the High Street, Audio T usually do some decent lower price cables.

whats sort of cable should i buy ? should i just buy the connection between tv & cinema system or shall i have to buy the cables for speaker connections as well ?
Sorry for this dumb question but i am a total newbie in this area

I'd buy new speaker cable for sure (but don't go mad price wise).
What connection do you have between the box and your TV? If it's SCART, then definitely allocate about £30 for a good QED or Ixos cable. They will way outperform any freebie SCART.

ok got my stuff today. The cinema system dose not have scart but instead have the phono & s-video out. The tv has scart connection. Now what i wanna know is do i have to get 2 phono+svhs to scart or scart to 2 phono+svhs?

You need to get the 2 phono and S-vid to scart.
QED make a nice one.
Make sure your TV can accept S-video via a scart socket before you buy. Most can these days but it's worth checking.

Thanks for the quick reply. I also wanted to know whether s-video is better or just the normal video (the one with the yello color connector)

S-Video is far superior to composite (Yellow phono)

Also can you give me some advice on which of this makes is better ?
Qed - Model AV17 - Cost = £43
Prolink series from http://www.lektropacks.co.uk/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=201e - Cost = £33
IXOS - Model 137AV or 143AV - Cost = 29.95
Any advice ?

No idea I'm afraid.
I have the QED one but with out the Audio phonos. Ie. Just S-Vid to scart and it's very good.

I find the QED Squart cable to be very good, probably a bit better than the Ixos (that's not to say the Ixos aren't good) though I've never used the Prolink cable.

Thanks for the reply. But i am getting the Ixos 143AV cable at £16, while qed cable is £43. Is there enough difference in performance of qed & ixos to justify the price difference ? if so then i would surely go for qed
