Did anyone else see this on the beeb last night?

The highlights of six Parkinson interviews (there were seven and one is lost apparently) with the late great Peter Ustinov was just superb viewing.

I just sat in awe of the mans wit, intelligence and talent. Guys like this don't walk on this planet too often. A great actor (winner of two Oscars no less), a brilliant writer, a humanitarian and philosopher, Ustinov will be dearly missed.

Some quotes from the great man.

<font color="darkblue">Beliefs are what divide people. Doubt unites them.

Comedy is simply a funny way of being serious.

Critics search for ages for the wrong word, which, to give them credit, they eventually find.

Her virtue was that she said what she thought, her vice that what she thought didn't amount to much.

I was irrevocably betrothed to laughter, the sound of which has always seemed to me to be the most civilised music in the world.

And finally, on experts

If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.

Rest in peace sir
