View Full Version : Help needed with speaker cable

I need a recommended speaker cable for the front 3 speakers. I have a Yamaha ax620, B&W 602 s3 for L & R bi-wired with some old qed profile 8x8 (£9p/m bi-wire) and B&W LCR60 bi-wired with gale xl315 (£2p/m single core). The center sounds to woolly and not as open as the L & R. I've tried qed bi-wire silver anniversary and found it too tiny and bright and not focused. Any recommendations for up to £10p/m bi-wire cable.

Although it works out more expensive, I'd suggest trying to match the front three speaker cables.
If you're after an open sound but not too bright, I'd suggest taking a listen to:
Supra 4 x 2.5 Bi-wire Rondo (£4.75p/m)
Chord Carnival Silver Bi-Wire (£8.50p/m)
DNM Reson MkII (£12.90p/m to make it bi-wire)
The DNM may be an acquired taste for some, so try and demo it.
Also worth trying some of the less expensive Ecosse b-wire cables if you can demo them.
Always worth looking out on eBay for some Nordost SuperFlatline Gold - it's what I use across the front three and also in my 2 channel system. I've tried loads of cables, including making my own (http://www.avtalk.co.uk/forum/index.php?t=msg&goto=45236&rid=20&SQ=1094714617#ms g_45236) (which turned out very well and might even be a good solution to your current problem) but I always seem to gravitate back to the Flatline.
