View Full Version : Atacama SE10 Speaker Stand Filling

Is there any specific material I should use to fill my new SE speaker stands ? If so, what should it be ?
Thankyou for any helpful advice.
Lead shot was recommended as a good way, but this might be hard to get hold of. So you need to use some dried out sand from B&Q, the stuff they use for childrens play pits. Costs a couple of quid a bag, but at this time of year you then need to re-dry it out as they normally store it outside. :(

Get a roll of small plastic bags and fill each one 1/3 full of dry sand. Get as much air out as you can and tie them off so there is some free movement for the sand in each bag.
Poke them into filling holes. Much less messy than dry sand.
I put some lead shot in each bag as well.

Thankyou for the response Satch.
Sounds like a lot of work to me ! ;)~;-)~
Does it make any difference to the sound having plastic and sand (as opposed to 100% sand) ?

I used cat litter to fill my speaker stands, less messy than sand and fairly inexpensive.
It also helps that I don't have a cat.

The SE10's were delivered yesterday and came with two large plastic bags to put inside each stand before filling with sand. Worked a treat ! :D~:-D~
