I've never heard the Leisure 3SE but the V3M is definitely a step up from the V2M. I'm not familiar with the cost structure in Europe though, so I cannot say if it is worth the extra cost.

Hi Seowfan,

Yes, I've heard all three. In my case, the original plan was to audition the V3M. However, on that day, the dealer didn't have any in stock so, instead, I listened to the 3SE's so as to get a feel for the AC sound. They sounded wonderful - great deep bass, sweet mids and fast highs. Voices were quite lifelike - their great ribbon tweeters had me hooked instantly. Truth be told, I could have bought them and been done with it. But in a rare and unusual instance of restraint , I went back a few days later when the V2 and V3M were in stock.

After listening to all 3 models for a combined 4 hours, it was clear the V2 & 3Ms were a bit more refined and more of everything I loved about the 3SE. By that, I mean fuller and slightly deeper bass and with a bit more vertical dispersion from the tweeters (ugraded vis a vis the SE models) and more coherent top to bottom rangewise. Aside from the V2 having a much smaller vertical dispertion from the tweeter, the V2M was sonically similar to the V3M at about 4/5's the scale.

As these would be intended for a second system in a small room, it was important that the speakers not overpower the room sonically or visually. I thought then, and still do that, aesthetically, the scale and proportions of the smaller V2 are superb - among the best I've seen at any price. True confessions - looks are important to me as well . Because of this, at that time though I loved the V3M soundwise, I chose the V2M due to room size concerns and aesthetic preferences.

Well, I got them home and, very shortly thereafter, started kicking myself as the bass fullness and wider tweeter dispertion I had heard from the V3M and the was not there . If I had not heard the V3M, the V2's would have surely have sufficed. After about 4-5 days, I contacted the dealer explained to him my thougthts and asked him if he would consider upgrading me to the V3M if at all possible. Fortunately he agreed and I couldn't be happier.

Regards,

Garry

Hello all

To bring you up to date, Aurum Cantus has introduced a number of new loudspeakers. Not all of these would be relevant for the UK market, but the ones that make sense in a UK context are as follows:

Aurum Cantus Melody M-DS. This is intended to act in the role of a side speaker, but can be used as a surround speaker.

Aurum Cantus Melody M-103s. This can be used as front or rear speakers.

Aurum Cantus V8F. This is a smallish floor stander and utilises the top of the range G1 tweeter and fits inbetween the standmounted Volla and the floorstanding Harmony.

The specifications for these should should appear on my website shortly (www.absoluteanalogue.co.uk). In the meantime I enclose a composite picture of the new models.
