I thought the 3-D worked well on this, although it still requires a significant amount of forgiveness in terms of the overall image quality. As an 'event' film, this certainly works - it's stunning to look at for much of the time and it really does show just how advanced special effects are these days.

My main problem was that such a state of the art film seemed so clunky on its messages... which seemed to be tired old swipes at the various wars in the Middle East (a valuable resource under the ground where 'aliens' live, Jeez...) and the whole 'we've lost touch with nature' stuff. On the plus side, it was WAY more action packed and violent than I'd expected it to be.

I'm glad I saw it (and even more pleased it didn't give me a headache), but its not a film I'd ever feel the need to watch again.

Watched this yesterday. Film was a bit clunky, cliche, self indulgent etc, but the 3D blew me away.

I haven't bothered with any 3D films up to now - I think the last one was a Freddie film - but felt I had to see this. I thought the way it worked when used subtley (like the room full of people in rows of desks) was incredible.

I am now about to read up on 3DTVs. Imagine how cool games could be.

I think to enjoy it you have to ignore the cliches and hidden messages.

Brace yourselves...

I LOVED IT!

Went into this with the expectation that it would be switched off in disgust after about 20 minutes. Sure, it's a massive cheese fest with a million problems in the script and a run time at least 60 minutes too long; but as a piece of entertainment, it worked for me.

Pandora is just immense and has a level of detail that just sucked me straight in.

The Bluray is beyond sensational too. Picture quality is up there above anything I've seen before and audio quality was utterly convincing. I found the LFE was perhaps a little subtle in places but otherwise it's reference quality.

It sure does go on for a very long time but it will eek out every last drop of performance your system has to offer. It this doesn't look and sound amazing, you're doing it wrong.

Although I liked the 3D at the Cinema, watching it on Blu-ray you realize how much of the detail you loose. Not sure if it's an image quality or my poor brain not being able to process the 3D in the same way as 2D. I noticed a lot more subtle things, like small creatures on branches and activity in the distance that I can't recall at all from the 3D viewing.
