Looks great but I don't think I'll be upgrading from my original ipad just yet.
Only plus points (for me) that I could see are the welcome addition of front and rear camera's and the unit looks sleeker because its 1/3 thinner. Having a faster processor makes little or no difference to me. Mine is mainly used for internet browsing and emails. Disappointed that the screen resolution hasn't increased (it's certainly not on par with the iphone 4). Also disappointed with the fact that there is still no SD card slot or USB interface I'm sure ipad 3 won't be long. I'll wait

I am going to try and get 2 64GB on launch day. Have signed up for the notify me. I persuaded the other half not to get the first gen ones before Xmas.
I was hoping that the iPad 2 would have the iris like display but like you said Eric it's a disappointment. It does however have the A5 chip.

Personally I feel gutted the new ipad didn't live up to all the rumours. Yes it's still fantastic and improves on the old one by a good margin but I can't see that many existing ipad owners upgrading (not by the droves anyway).
I see this as a way of casting the net and grabbing most of the prospective buyers who were on hold rather after the ipad 1 launch. ipad 3 though will probably push ipad 1 owners over the edge, particularly if they add the features we were expecting the ipad 2 to have such as higher screen res, SD card slot etc.

I was away friday and saturday so ended up ordering online at 1am thursday night, delivery isnt until the end of April though
frustrating the way Apple make people queue up, rather than any more civilised pre-order approach |

Played with one of these at the airport yesterday, stunning bit of kit, maybe not a huge leap from the first one but anyone coming to the iPad for the first time will be blown away. I'd love one as a web-browser for the house, I'd imagine there's a lot of scope for use as a remote control, flick through your film library on the media server by cover and bang it comes up on your TV.

I have to say, although I haven't seen it in the flesh, I think the smart cover is horrendous.
It looks like a curtain and seems totally impractical. Looks cheap and gimmicky. |

Can't beat that for some great hype/advertising though!

Decided I'm going to get one.
I have ordered one form Comet that should turn up next week but ill get a refund as a family member is off to the US and offered to pick me one up there. Might as well as the Apple warranty is global and it will save me at least £100. I kept swaying between buying the original and the 2 because of all the story's of people returning theirs because of yellow tinted screens or bad screen bleed. But if I can swap it then its not too much of an issue. I also like the fact that you can edit video on the 2 with the provided application. It is a shame however that they could not have upped the screen res and ram though as a lot of the competitors are now better in these areas. |
