Default Kill Bill R1 DVD

Have just watched this, having not seen the movie at the cinema. Absolutely loved every minute of it, and the disc A/V quality is a total joy to behold.

When it arrived this morning I had a feeling of dread when I remembered it was a Miramax release, as they are commonly pumped with plenty of nasty edge halos. Well, I certainly never saw *any* on this disc at all, and when you couple that with retina-burning colours and the deepest black levels you get a dazzling picture that is not far short of perfection. I thought the detail was not perhaps as razor sharp as it could be, but that would be the slightest criticism of a near-flawless presentation.

As usual with Tarantino films there is plenty of musical support for the onscreen mayhem, and all are reproduced lovingly with clean bass and great fidelity. There are also some knockout surround moments, such as the 'breathy' sounds in the opening moments. It was never going to be the aural assault of Matrix Revolutions, but the film offers a great soundtrack and the disc presents it in superb fashion.

Do not hesitate to buy this disc. Yes, I know there will be an uber boxset with a new short film, but if you like the film I don't know how you can wait for that when this disc is so good! I think it may be getting another spin this weekend...

The uncut R3 is available from CDWOW

English DTS5.1 and Chinese subtitles so shouldn't be a problem with understanding the Japanese bits

£8.49 with the £1.50 off link. It's worth it at this price I've just placed my order.
